Iqaluit, Nunavut (17 administrative, maintenance employees, apprentices) and the Nunavut Employees Union and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)

Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2020. Signed on June 1, 2018.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective July 1, 2017: 1.25%
Effective July 1, 2018: 1.25%
Effective July 1, 2019: 1.25%
Shift premium: $3.25 per hour for employees assigned as foreman.
Paid holidays: 12 days. 
Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 20 days after 2 years, 27 days after 6 years, 30 days after 10 years, 36 days after 15 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours. Double time for subsequent hours worked and all hours worked on second or subsequent day of rest. 
Meal allowance: Employer will provide employee with meal or meal allowance after 2 hours of overtime immediately following regularly scheduled hours of duty.
Medical benefits: Northern Employee Benefits Services Group Benefit Plan (includes basic group life insurance; accidental death, disease and dismemberment; dependent’s insurance; long-term disability, short-term disability (weekly indemnity)).
Sick leave: 1.25 days per month of service. 
Pension: Northern Employee Benefits Services Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, child, adopted child, stepchild who resides with employee or of whom employee has legal joint-custody, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, any relative residing in employee’s household). 5 days for death of son in-law, daughter in-law, brother in-law, sister in-law.
Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at appropriate overtime rate compensation or equivalent to 4 hours’ pay at straight-time rate. When employee has been recalled and is required to use transportation services other than normal public transportation service, employee will be paid actual cost of commercial transportation each way, provided claim in excess of $5 is accompanied by receipt.
Probationary period: 6 months. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Severance: 2 weeks’ pay for first year of service; 2 weeks’ pay for second year of service; 1 week’s pay for each subsequent year of service. Maximum 18 weeks. 
Safety shoes: $1,000 per year for maintenance employees. $275 per year for administration employees.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide all protective devices, clothing and other equipment necessary to properly protect employees from injury and unhealthy conditions. Employer will provide: hard hats, aprons, welding goggles, dust protection, eye protection (except prescription lenses), ear protection.
Tool allowance: Employer will replace worn out or broken tools.

Editor’s notes: Vacation travel assistance: $2,300 per year. Employee must have applied for vacation leave and be travelling outside of Iqaluit to qualify. Standby: $24 (previously $21) for weekdays; $34 (previously $31) for Saturdays; $42 (previously $39) for Sundays or holidays. Plug-in allowance: Employees who are required to bring employer vehicle home between Nov. 1 and March 31 for standby will be paid $5 per day for employees who reside in public housing, $10 per day for other employees. Bilingual bonus: Where employee is required on job to speak 2 or more of English, Inuktitut, French, employee will be paid $1,000 in 2 lump-sum bonus cheques in mid-July and mid-December. Housing allowance: Housing allowance of $575 per month (previously $550 per month), utility allowance of $325 per month (previously $300 per month).
