Renewal agreement: Effective Feb. 1, 2016, to Jan. 31, 2018. Signed on Jan. 29, 2016. 

Wage adjustments: 

Effective Feb. 1, 2016: 1.5%.

Shift premium: Lead hand: 5%. Foreman: 15%. General foreman: 25%. Night shift: $3 per hour (when the majority of hours fall between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.). Specialized welding: $3.50 per hour. C ticket: $0.50 per hour. CWB all-positions ticket: $0.25 per hour. First aid ticket with CPR: $0.25 per hour. Advanced first aid: $0.50 per hour. Dual ticket: $1 per hour. Leadership for safety excellence: $0.25 per hour. Senior premium: $1.75 per hour. Steward: $0.75 per hour. Steward with tool box 1: $1 per hour. Steward with tool box 2: $1.25 per hour. Steward with tool box 3: $1.75 per hour. Chief steward with tool box 1: $2 per hour. Chief steward with tool box 2: $2.50 per hour. Chief steward with tool box 3: $3 per hour. Construction safety officer (ACSA) $1 per hour. Construction safety officer: (ACSA) $1.25 per hour.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 6% for all hours worked. 

Overtime:  Time and one-half regular rate for all hours in excess of 8 hours per day and 40 straight-time hours. (10 hours per day during compressed schedule of 4 10-hour shifts). 

Meal allowance: If employee is required to work beyond 12 hours the next day, employer will provide a meal.

Medical benefits: Prescription drugs: 80% up to $3,000 per person per year, 100% thereafter.

Dental: Basic: 100% up to $2,000 per person per year. Comprehensive: 50% up to $2,000 per person  per year. Orthodontic: 50% up to $3,000 lifetime maximum per child under 19.

Vision: Under 21: $300 per year. Over 21: $300 every 2 years.

Sick leave: Leave of absence without pay.

STD: 60% weekly earnings to maximum of $600 per week maximum of 119 days.

LTD: 60% of earnings, maximum of $2,600 per month, per employee, payable after 119 days until 65.

AD&D: $100,000 up to 65; $50,000 from 65 up to 74.

Life insurance: $100,000 up to 65; $50,000 from 65 up to 74.

Pension: Defined contribution governed by CLAC Pension Plan. 2% contribution per hour, matched by employer. 

Bereavement leave: 3 days for immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, child, legal dependent, parents, parents-in-law, sibling, grandparents, grandchildren).

Call-in pay: 2 hours minimum.

Probationary period: 3 months.

Safety shoes: CSA-approved safety boots must be worn, provided by employee.

Tool allowance: All tools provided by employer.

Editor’s notes:  Eye glasses/ear plugs: Prescription safety glasses, corrective laser eye surgery up to $250. Custom ear plugs up to $100. CWB ticket: Employer will cover the cost of a Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) retest. Show-up time: An employee who is sent home because of lack of work, will receive minimum 3 hours' pay. Safety awards: Given to individuals and crews if no lost-time accident or medical aid given in 8-week period.
