Renewal agreement: Effective April 16, 2017, to April 16, 2022. Ratified on Oct. 12, 2017. Signed on Oct. 12, 2017.
Wage adjustments: 
(For employees currently at top-rate scale)
Effective April 16, 2017: $0.25 per hour
Effective April 15, 2018: $0.25 per hour
Effective April 14, 2019: $0.30 per hour
Effective April 12, 2020: $0.30 per hour
Effective April 11, 2021: $0.35 per hour
Shift premium: $1 per hour for person in charge when 2 or more employees are working on night shift — where night stocking is in effect — and no premium-rate clerk or management personnel are in charge. $40 per week when there is no owner or manager on duty for 1 week or longer, then employer will appoint person in charge.
Paid holidays: 10 days. 
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 13 years, 6 weeks after 18 years, 7 weeks after 23 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work in excess of basic work week. Cannot be taken as time off in lieu. Double time for all work after 10 hours per day, 48 hours per week. Time worked after 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve will be paid at double time. 
Meal allowance: $5 after more than 2 hours of overtime. 
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for B.C. Medical Services Plan.
Dental: Employer will contribute $0.29 per hour to retail clerks dental plan. Maximum $11.60 per week per employee. $1,750 (previously $1,500) maximum for orthodontics coverage. Effective Sunday after ratification dependants who have not exceeded $1,750 maximum will have maximum increased to $2,500.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $300 per person every 2 years. $300 per year maximum for dependants younger than 19.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 4 hours for each month of employment, maximum 376 hours.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $25,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute 7.5% (previously 6%) to Retail Clerks Industry Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: Will be granted at discretion of employer for death in immediate family (spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, any relative living in household).
Probationary period: 60 days. 
Severance: 1 week’s pay to start, 1 week’s pay for every year of service, maximum 20 weeks. 
Uniforms/clothing: When employee is required to wear uniform or special article of wearing apparel, uniform will be furnished by employer and maintained by employee.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase):
0 to 520 hours: minimum wage (MW) rising 2 steps to $11.35
521 to 1,560 hours: MW + $0.25 per hour rising 2 steps to $11.60
1,561 to 2,600 hours: MW + $0.50 per hour rising 2 steps to $11.85
2,601 to 3,640 hours: MW + $0.75 per hour rising 2 steps to $12.10
3,641 to 4,680 hours: MW + $1 per hour rising 2 steps to $12.35
4,681 to 5,720 hours: MW + $1.25 per hour rising 2 steps to $12.60
5,721 to 6,240 hours: MW + $1.75 per hour rising 2 steps to $13.10
6,241 to 6,760 hours: MW + $2 per hour rising 2 steps to $13.35
6,761 + hours: MW + $2.25 rising 2 steps to $13.60
Editor’s notes: Posting of schedules: If employer fails to post 2 weeks of schedules at all times, employer will pay fine to Kootenay Market #1671 UFCW Pension Plan: $50 for first offence; $100 for second offence; $150 for third offence; $200 for fourth offence. Take-a-break leave: Employees are entitled to apply for take-a-break leave of absence, maximum 3 weeks per year. Hearing aids: $500 per person once every 5 years. Medical reports: Employer will pay fee for medical reports required by employer for sick leave or weekly-indemnity provisions, maximum $20. Health, safety, education fund: Employer agrees to contribute $0.01 per hour for every hour worked to United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 1518, Health, Safety and Education Fund.
