Majority of ATU executive board reinstated

After an upset last week, the majority of the executive board of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113 have been reinstated.

Local president Bob Kinnear had tried to remove the local from its parent the ATU interviewed the executive board and were advised Bob Kinnear’s actions were inappropriate, said the union. 

The majority of the ATU executive board has been reinstated to their former positions under the direction of international vice-president Manny Sforza, according to the union.

Last week 17 members were removed, according to media reports.

The purpose of the trusteeship is to restore democratic procedures and assure continuous representation of the 10,000 members, mostly TTC employees, said the union.

The trustee will be communicating directly with the members and the public in the coming hours and days.
