MCA contracting employees in Sudbury, Ont., ratify first collective agreement

Membership in pension plan, employer-paid benefits part of deal: CLAC

CLAC, Local 52 members employed by MCA Contracting in Sudbury, Ont., ratified their first collective agreement providing them with a retirement savings plan and health and welfare benefits.

The three-year agreement includes enrolment in the CLAC Pension Plan with four per cent contributions increasing to five per cent in 2020. Members and their families will also be provided with employer-paid health and welfare benefits through the CLAC benefits plan, said the union.

MCA employees include equipment operators, carpenters, drivers, and labourers. The company builds bridges, water and sewer works, roads, curbs, and sidewalks and also does concrete finishing and excavation work.
