Renewal agreement: Effective Nov. 1, 2018 to Oct. 31, 2022. Ratified on Feb. 26, 2020. Signed on May 4, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Nov. 1, 2018: 0%

Effective Nov. 1, 2019: 0%

Effective Nov. 1, 2020: 1%

Effective Nov. 1, 2021: 1.25%

Shift premium: Time and one-half for all hours worked as licensed practical nurse within 15.5 hour period between scheduled work shifts or changeover of shifts. Time and one-half for all work on first scheduled day off; double time for all work on second and subsequent days off (unless employee is given 7 calendar days’ notice of change of shift schedule). $3.25 per hour (previously $3 per hour) for employee working shift wherein majority of hours fall during 56-hour period beginning at 11 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Monday. $3 per hour (previously $2.50 per hour) for employee working shift wherein majority of hours fall between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. $2.25 per hour (previously $2 per hour) to employee working shift wherein majority of hours falls between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 2 years, 20 days after 6 years, 25 days after 12 years, 30 days after 17 years. Employee may carry over unused vacation from 1 year to next succeeding year, maximum aggregate carry-over of 1 week of vacation time.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after 7.5 hours in 1 shift or 75 hours biweekly or more than 6 consecutive days. Time and one-half for all hours worked after 7.75 hours per shift or 77.5 hours per biweekly period for licensed practical nurses. May be taken as time off in lieu no later than 30 days from date overtime was worked.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums. 100% coverage for basic treatments, including routine examinations once every 9 months. 50% coverage for major treatments, including endodontics and periodontics, crowns, bridges, major restorative procedures. Maximum benefit of $1,750 per eligible covered person per year, for basic and major treatments combined.

Vision: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for coverage of $250 every 24 months. 1 eye examination covered at 100% per person every 24 months.

Sick leave: 3.75 days will be given after probation is completed. 1.25 shifts for each 162.5 hours; 167.9 hours for licensed practical nurses, maximum 15 full-time equivalent shifts or 112.5 hours; 116.25 hours for licensed practical nurses.

STD: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums. Coverage of 66.67% of average weekly earnings, beginning on eighth day of disability, maximum 17 weeks.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of 66.67% of employee’s first $1,500 of basic monthly earnings, plus 50% of excess earnings, after 17 weeks, maximum 60 months.

Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums. Coverage of $25,000.

Pension: Employee contributes 2% (previously 1%) into group RRSP, matched by employer.

Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of mother, father, legally recognized stepparents, husband, wife, son, daughter, stepchildren, brother, sister, common-law spouse, same-sex partner. 3 days for death of grandparents, grandparents-in-law, grandchildren, mother in-law, father in-law, sister in-law, brother in-law, aunt, uncle. Additional 2 days without pay when it is necessary for employee to travel greater than 300 kilometres from employee’s place of residence to attend funeral.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs; 30 months for employees who are absent due to illness or other physical disability and there is no reasonable likelihood employee will return to work within near future. 30 days for employee leaving McKenzie care centre (as result of change in personal residence) who is accepted for employment at one of employer’s other care centres in which CUPE is bargaining agent for position that employee is accepted for.

Call-in pay: Paid at overtime rates for all hours worked when employee working standard shift of 7.5 hours is called back to work within 15 hours after working employee’s regular shift; 15.5 hours for licensed practical nurses.

Probationary period: 3 months for full-time employees; 487.5 hours worked for part-time. 503.75 hours worked for licensed practical nurses.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for all records of disciplinary nature.
