Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2014, to Aug. 31, 2018.

Wage adjustments:
Teachers
Effective Sept. 1, 2014: 2%
Effective Sept. 1, 2015: 2.5%
Effective Sept. 1, 2016: 2.5%
Effective Sept. 1, 2017: 2.5%
$250 signing bonus for all employees

Paid holidays: 14 days. Time and one-half for all scheduled days off.

Vacations with pay: Employees are entitled to time off with pay during Christmas Break and Spring Break as per the Nova Scotia school calendar. Employees are entitled to time off with pay on a pro-rated basis during the Summer Break as per the school calendar.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of the employee’s scheduled daily hours.
Sick leave: 1.5 days earned per calendar month worked. Sick leave credits may be carried over to the next year up to a maximum of 95 days.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for employee’s father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster parent, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, stepchild, foster child, ward of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, legal guardian or any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household. 3 additional days when the employee must travel outside the province to attend the funeral. 1 day for employee’s uncle or aunt.

Seniority – recall rights: 2 years.

Probationary period: 2 years for tenure-track teachers. 6 months for all other employees.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.

Mileage: The employer will reimburse employees for the cost of extra liability insurance and mileage when the transportation of school children or travel on behalf of the employer is required.

Teacher V: $45,722 rising in 10 steps to $71,770
Teacher VI: $48,485 rising in 10 steps to $74,548
Teacher’s aide: $21,343 rising in 13 steps to $31,195
