More Suncor workers join Unifor

Part of operation in Northern Alberta

Workers at the Suncor East Tank Farm voted overwhelmingly to join Unifor.

The workers will join 4,000 members as part of local 707A at the company's extraction facilities in Northern Alberta.

"We look forward to getting to work at the bargaining table," said Joie Warnock, Unifor's western director.

"Many workers in the oil and gas sector are still without the protections and safety of a collective agreement," said Jerry Dias, Unifor president.

Unifor is one of Canada's energy unions, representing more than 12,000 members including offshore platforms in Newfoundland and Labrador, Suncor in Alberta's oilsands, energy crown corporations in Saskatchewan and refineries in several provinces.
