The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) organized another auto dealership in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

In a Ministry of Labour authorized vote, workers at NorthSide Toyota voted to join the IAM on Nov. 13. The IAM now represents workers at six auto dealerships in Sault Ste. Marie.

“We’re growing our footprint in Sault Ste. Marie and we want to add more dealerships. These workers want fairness in the workplace, better wages, better benefits and a pension and they came to us to obtain those goals,” said Lou Pagrach, IAM grand lodge representative.

The newest members of IAM, Local 2332 include service technicians, apprentices and parts-department personnel. The IAM also represents workers at Prouse Motors, Superior Dodge, Maitland Lewis, Highland Ford and Superior Nissan, said the union.
