Provincewide, Ontario (57,630 registered nurses) and Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA)

Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2018. Signed on Sept. 7, 2016.
Shift premium: $2.15 per hour for evening shift hours, $2.55 for night shift hours. Effective April 1, 2017: $2.25 per hour for evening shift hours, $2.65 for night shift hours. $2.70 per hour for each hour worked between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday. Effective April 1, 2017: $2.80 per hour for each hour worked between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday. Group, unit or team leader: $2 per hour.
Paid holidays: 12 days. 
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 6% to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 3 years, 5 weeks after 11 years, 6 weeks after 20 years, 7 weeks after 25 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all time worked after 60 hours in 2-week period.
Meal allowance: Hot meal or $6 if meal cannot be provided, when working more than 2 hours after shift ends.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Ontario Health Insurance Plan and Liberty Health Semi-Private Plan (comparable to the Blue Cross Plan).
Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Liberty Health Dental #9 Dental Plan (comparable to Blue Cross #9 Dental Plan). Complete, partial dentures: 50/50 co-insurance, $1,000 maximum per person per year. Crowns, bridgework: 50/50 co-insurance, $2,000 maximum per person per year. Orthodontics: 50/50 co-insurance, $2,000 maximum per insured lifetime.
Vision: $400 every 24 months, may be used for laser surgery. Effective April 1, 2017: $450 every 24 months, and 1 eye exam.
Paramedical: Chiropractic, massage therapy, physiotherapy coverage: $400 per person per year.
LTD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Plan will provide 65% of earnings for weeks 18 through 30.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for HOOGLIP or other group life insurance plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (parent, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandparent of spouse or grandchild). 1 day to attend funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew).
Seniority – recall rights: 36 months. 
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at overtime rate.
Probationary period: 70 tours worked from date of last hire (525 hours of work for nurses whose regular hours of work are other than standard work day).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.

Registered nurse
1 year: $31.91 rising 1 step to $32.36
2 years: $32.45 rising 1 step to $32.90
3 years: $34.04 rising 1 step to $34.52
4 years: $35.65 rising 1 step to $36.15
5 years: $37.66 rising 1 step to $38.19
6 years: $39.68 rising 1 step to $40.24
7 years: $41.72 rising 1 step to $42.30
8 years: $44.68 rising 1 step to $45.31
25 years: $45.47 rising 1 step to $46.11
Editor’s notes: Standby pay: $3.45 per hour, $5.05 per hour on statutory holiday. Hearing aids: Maximum $500 per person every 36 months. Effective April 1, 2017: $700 per person every 36 months.
