OPSEU files notice to bargain for Renfrew Home Support workers

Contract to cover 96 members in Renfrew, Arnprior

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) filed notice to bargain the first collective agreement for unionized staff at Community Living Renfrew County South.

CLRCS employees provide support to individuals with one or more intellectual disabilities. Workers voted to join OPSEU on Aug. 18.

The contract will cover 96 members in Renfrew and Arnprior. The union represents more than 10,000 members in the developmental services sector province-wide.

“Our goal will be to negotiate for these new members the best possible improvements in their workplace,” said OPSEU president Warren (Smokey) Thomas. “By electing to join OPSEU, they know they’ve taken a big step in the right direction.”
