The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 4254 welcomed new members after a successful organizing drive in the Prairie Spirit School Division in Warman, Sask., on April 2.

The union organizing drive, which started in November, added educational associates from Rosthern Elementary School and Rosthern High School and the Perdue caretaker to CUPE 4254’s bargaining unit, said the union.

“We are proud to represent 14 new members from Rosthern and Perdue,” said Grace Wudrick, CUPE 4254 president.

CUPE 4254 represents about 400 Prairie Spirit School Division support staff.  Members include EAs, administrative and executive assistants, caretakers and maintenance staff, bus drivers and technicians and network administrators, said the union.

“The CUPE, Local 4254 membership has more than tripled in the last 20 years as a result of previous organizing drives,” said Wudrick.
