Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2018 to August 31, 2021. Ratified on May 21, 2019. Signed on Nov. 26, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Sept. 1, 2018: 0%

Effective Sept. 1, 2019: 1%

Effective Sept. 1, 2020: 1%

Paid holidays: 11 days for 10-months employees; 12 days for 12-month employees.

Vacations with pay: 12-month employees: 1.25 days per month or 15 days to start, 1.667 days per month or 20 days after 6 years, 2.083 days per month or 25 days after 12 years. 10-month employees: 6% per year, paid monthly, to start, 8% per year, paid monthly, after 5 years, 10% per year, paid monthly, after 12 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work beyond standard daily hours of work or weekly hours of work. Time may be banked but banked hours remaining at June 30 for 10-month employees; Aug. 31 for 12-month employees, will be paid out.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (ASEBP). Employer will provide $725 per school year (previously $600 per school year) for individual health spending account. Any unused portion may be carried over in accordance with ASEBP policy. Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care Plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 2 days per month, maximum accumulation of 75 working days.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Full-time employees must participate in employer-sponsored Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, son, daughter, parent, brother, sister or parent of spouse, grandparent, grandchild, grandparent of spouse, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, other relative who is member of employee’s household.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months when employee is absent due to sickness, accident, leave of absence; 18 months for layoffs.

Call-in pay: Overtime rate for all hours worked or minimum of 2 hours, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 6 months from date of hire; period may be extended for further 3 months. For 10-month employees, probationary periods are exclusive of summer school closure.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.

Safety shoes: $150 per year for employees required to wear steel-toed work boots. $150 per year for custodians required to clean and wax floors.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide protective coveralls, safety glasses, gloves, any other protective equipment required by health and safety regulations.

Tool allowance: $300 (previously $150) will be paid in January of each year to all employees employed as mechanics to compensate employees for use of own tools pro-rated based on employee’s full time equivalency.

Editor’s notes: Personal leave: Permanent full-time employees are entitled to 2 personal leave days per school year and may accumulate 1 unused day per year, maximum of 5 days. Professional development: When employees go for professional development time off-site, compensation for attendance will be provided to cover: registration fees, travel, meals, accommodation, maximum of standard daily hours for each day in attendance. When no transportation is provided by employer, employees will be entitled to be reimbursed for kilometres driven. Training: Professional training will be provided to employees who are required to do personal care, such as tube feeding, biohazard waste handling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, mechanical lifts (all training hours will be paid by employer at regular rate of pay).
