Wage adjustments:

Effective date of ratification: $0.30 per hour

Effective Sept. 2021: Lump sum (full-time: $1,000; 32 plus hours per week: $700; 24 plus hours per week: $450; 16 plus hours per week: $275; 8 plus hours per week: $175)

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour (previously $0.30 per hour) over regular rate for employees appointed to assistant department manager. $1 per hour for each hour worked for part-time employees working between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. $2 per hour for each hour worked for full-time employees working between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. When night stocking takes place, $0.75 per hour for 1 employee on night-stocking crew who is designated as lead-hand. $0.50 per hour for employee assigned to relieve department manager for longer than 2 days.

Paid holidays: 10 days, plus National Indigenous People Day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 16 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 20 years. Employees hired after ratification will be capped at 16-year vacation threshold.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all time worked after 8 hours in any shift; all time worked greater than 40 hours per week. Maximum 4 hours of overtime over 8-hour shift.

Weekly indemnity: Paid from day 4 of sickness or accident at 66 2/3% of regular rate, maximum 26 weeks.

Sick leave: Employee will receive 80% of hourly rate for first 5 days in any year, after 3 months of service.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, common-law spouse, child, father, mother, brother, sister. 3 days for death of father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, legal guardian. 1 day for death of all other relatives. All employees may have maximum 5 additional days unpaid leave of absence if required.

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months after layoffs.

Probationary period: 300 hours. Period may be extended up to additional 100 hours worked.

Severance: 1 week’s pay for every year of service, maximum 26 weeks after 2 years of service.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees will be provided with either vest, apron or uniform shirt free of charge. Adequate warm clothing will be provided by employer for employees required to work in stock room or who pick up carts and remove garbage from store (will include gloves during winter months for those employees required to work outside). Employees in production bakery and meat departments will be provided with whites by employer and maintenance to be paid by employer.

Editor’s notes: Medical examinations: Employees will be paid for time lost or time taken for employer-required medical examination and employer will pay for required medical examinations. When employee is required to have modified work form completed specific to YWCHSB (Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board) claim, employer will reimburse employee, maximum $30. Staff meetings: Staff meetings, whether in store or off premises, will be considered as time worked and paid for accordingly, except dinner meetings at which attendance is voluntary. Dinner meetings greater than 3 during each contract year will be considered as time worked and paid for accordingly.
