Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2019. Signed on April 1, 2016.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2016: 2.5%
Effective April 1, 2017: 2.5%
Effective April 1, 2018: 2.5%
Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for work that starts between 1 p.m. and 3:59 a.m. Additional 8% for lead hands. Additional 10% for charge hands.
Paid holidays: 9 days, plus half days on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Additional 2 floater holidays.
Vacations with pay: 1 day per month to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 19 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 24 years, additional day added for each subsequent year of service.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8-hour or 12-hour shifts. Time and one-half for work on Saturdays and Sundays, except on regularly scheduled shifts. May be banked and taken as time off.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20%.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 90% reimbursement for basic services, 50% reimbursement for major services.
Vision: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20%.
Sick leave: 6 days per year.
STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 75% of earnings, maximum $600 per week, for 26 weeks.
LTD: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% for coverage of 60% of monthly earnings, maximum $2,500 per month, after 26 weeks of disability.
Life insurance: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% for coverage of $50,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute 3% per year to individual RRSP account.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner, employee’s father and mother and spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, employee’s children and children of employee’s spouse or common-law partner, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, grandfather, grandmother, father and mother of spouse or common-law partner of employee and spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, any relative of employee who resides with employee).
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide jackets (1 parka, 1 bomber, 1 nylon shell), 1 pair of insulated coveralls, 5 pairs of pants/skirts, 5 long-sleeve shirts/blouses, 5 short-sleeve shirts/blouses, 3 sweaters, 1 belt. Employer will replace shirts, blouses, pants, sweaters every 24 months. $75 per year for customer service representative’s black dress shoes. $200 per year for all footwear for employees who work outside.
Tool allowance: Employer will provide special tools, fork-lifts, bolts, cotter pins, which are not part of mechanics’ normal tool kit.
