Renewal agreement: Effective July 3, 2019 to May 1, 2023. Ratified on July 3, 2019. Signed on May 14, 2019.

Shift premium: Double time when employee schedule does not permit 12-hour break between work periods. Double time for first shift worked, when employee is given new schedule and starting time if more than 1 hour sooner or later of previous schedule. Time may be banked, maximum 56 hours.

Paid holidays: 9 days (11 days plus 1 floating day for employees on certain schedules).

Vacations with pay: During first year of service, employee may take 1 week off after 6 months of service (remaining 2 weeks will be taken after first year of service is done), 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. 24 hours of travel time with pay at employee’s hourly rate will be granted each year to each employee in conjunction with annual vacation.

Overtime: Double time for all work after 40 hours per week, when averaged over employee’s shift cycle.

Meal allowance: Suitable hot meal (eaten on company time) for employee who works more than 2 hours beyond regular stopping time and has not had 8 hours of notice of overtime prior to shift. Meals will be furnished thereafter at 4-hour intervals throughout remaining period of work.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law, same-sex), parent (including stepparent, foster parent) of employee or employee’s spouse, child (including stepchild, foster-child) of employee or employee’s spouse, grandparents (including stepgrandparents) of employee or employee’s spouse, grandchildren (including stepgrandchildren) of employee or employee’s spouse, sister/brother (including in-laws), daughter/son (including in-laws)). Additional 2 days for travel for employees not covered by overtime agreement.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs. 1,040 working hours per year for employee who accepts promotion or transfer out of bargaining unit.

Call-in pay: Greater of applicable overtime rate or minimum of 4 hours’ pay computed at applicable overtime rate (employee will not be required to return to work on regular shift for less than 2 hours). If call-in extends up to commencement of employee’s regular shift, employee will normally take 8-hour break. However, if requested to work after commencement of employee’s regular shift, employee will receive applicable overtime rate for hours worked.

Probationary period: 480 working hours.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for letters of discipline.

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay plus 2 weeks’ multiplied by 1.15, provided employee has at least 1 year of continuous service with employer. Employer will reimburse employee for training or moving costs incurred within 2 years of termination, maximum $2,000, provided expense is for outside employment opportunity, less any other training or moving subsidy available to employee.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees will receive twice weekly clothing changes and additional coveralls may be supplied. $125 per year for any employee who works majority of time outdoors and is not being supplied with Nomex winter clothing.

Tool allowance: All required tools will be supplied by employer at no cost to maintenance employees.

Editor’s notes: Firefighting: If employee is recruited for fighting forest fires, amount will be paid by employer which, when added to firefighting pay received from government, equals employee’s normal salary. Apprentices: Apprentices while at school will receive normal rate of pay and will reimburse employer with any government training allowance received, excluding living away portion of allowance. When required to attend school out of town, apprentices will be reimbursed maximum $225 per week. PEL fund: Employer will remit $0.05 for each full-time employee’s regular hours of work to paid education leave fund. Community fund: Employer will remit $0.03 for each full-time employee’s regular hours of work to Unifor’s Canadian Community Fund.
