Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Ratified in August 2019. Signed on Aug. 27, 2019.

Shift premium: $1 per hour for afternoon and night shift. $2 per hour for installers acting as site leads.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1 float day (may be taken as single day or as 2 half-days).
Vacations with pay: 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 5 years, 16 days after 6 years, 17 days after 7 years, 18 days after 8 years, 19 days after 9 years, 20 days after 10 years. Maximum 5 days of vacation time may be carried over into following year but must be used by April 1 of subsequent vacation year. Employee may be permitted to carry over vacation time in excess of 10-day minimum vacation requirement from current year in order to take extended vacation in subsequent vacation year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours in excess of 40 per week and all hours on statutory holidays; prior approval required.
Meal allowance: $65 per day for out-of-town installers.
Medical benefits: Health and dental plan jointly funded: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Effective July 1, 2020: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums. Effective July 1, 2021: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums.
Pension: Employee contributes 1%, employer matches contribution to RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 3 working days for death of spouse, child, stepchild or foster child; 2 working days for death of employee’s or spouse’s parent, sibling, sibling-in-law, grandparent, grandchild or stepgrandchild; 1 working day for death of employee’s or spouse’s sibling-in-law or child-in-law.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for continuous layoffs or for promotion to position beyond scope of agreement.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ work or pay for employees who have completed regular shift and are called back after leaving.
Probationary period: 55 working days.
Safety shoes: $150 every 18 months (12 months for installers) for safety footwear for non-probationary employees.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides at least 2 pairs of suitable protective clothing to welders, custom shop workers, industrial machinists, metal machine operators. $160 every 12 months for safety glasses through employer’s third-party program. Employees will be responsible for cost above $160 (glasses purchased outside of employer’s plan will not be eligible for reimbursement). 3 pairs of workpants and 5 T-shirts per year for installers.
Tool allowance: Employer provides tools necessary for installers to perform their work. Any lost, misplaced or damaged tools to be replaced at expense of installer unless it was beyond control of installer.

Editor’s notes: Reporting pay: Minimum of 4 hours’ work or pay for reporting for regularly scheduled work without notice not to report. Personal leave: Employer may grant unpaid leave of absence with written request at least 1 month in advance. Temporary transfers: Employees transferred for convenience of employer for one full shift or more to another position with different rate of pay will receive higher of own pay or other position’s pay. Red-circled employees: Employees whose hourly wage is higher than wage grid are eligible for annual compounded bonus: 2.5% in year 1, 5.06% in year 2, 7.69% in year 3. Travel time: Installers doing out-of-town installations paid for travel time in addition to work hours for 2 hours in each way, to and from installation site, calculated to nearest quarter-hour, based on departure and arrival times on airline tickets. Personal-expense allowance: Installers are entitled to maximum $65 cash allowance per day for personal expenses incurred out of town when installers stay overnight. Installers are permitted to keep any unused cash allowance at end of trip.
