Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2021. Signed on March 30, 2017.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2017: 1.75%
Effective April 1, 2018: 1.75%
Effective April 1, 2019: 1.75%
Effective April 1, 2020: 1.75%
Shift premium: $1 per hour for all work on Sunday for retail store workers. $1 per hour for all work between 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. for retail store workers.
Paid holidays: 13 days, including 1 floating holiday. About 50% of employees will receive working day prior to Christmas Day as holiday, balance will receive working day prior to New Year’s Day as holiday. Maximum of 50% of employees will be granted either Thursday immediately before Good Friday or Easter Monday or floating holiday at employee’s discretion. Maximum 50% of employees will be granted either Remembrance Day or floating holiday at employee’s discretion.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks (plus 1 day for each additional year, maximum 10 days) after 16 years.
Overtime: Double time for all employees hired prior to April 7, 2010, time and one-half for all employees hired after. May be banked, maximum 5 working days per year (May 1 to April 30).
Meal allowance: $10 when working more than 2 hours’ overtime and every 5 hours thereafter.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan no. 9, or equivalent.
Vision: $200 per person every 2 years.
Paramedical: Maximum $300 for chiropractic, massage therapy.
STD: 70% of wages, maximum 15 weeks.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Every employee will be required to join Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of mother, father, spouse, common-law spouse, children, stepmother, stepfather, stepchildren. 3 days for death of common-law spouse’s father or mother, brother, sister, spouse of employee’s father-in-law or mother-in-law (including common-law spouse), grandparents, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepbrother, stepsister, stepgrandparents, stepgrandchild, any relative who resides in employee’s household. Additional 2 days when attending funeral service outside District of Thunder Bay. 1 day when acting as pallbearer or performing official function.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay.
Probationary period: 9 months.
Safety shoes: Maximum $65 for 75% reimbursement for green-patch safety shoes, twice per year.
