A tentative agreement for employees at  Hardisty Care Centre in Edmonton was reached on Sept. 10, after a final round of negotiations in August, according to the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE).

A ratification vote will happen on Sept. 21 at the worksite. If ratified, the proposed agreement will come into effect on April 1, 2018, and expire on March 31, 2020, said the union.

The tentative agreement includes salary increases in both years and 1.5-per-cent increases (retro-pay based on all hours) effective April 1, 2018, two-per-cent increases effective April 1, 2019, according to AUPE.

The contract also features gender-neutral language, a respect-in-the-workplace article and a domestic-violence-leave provision (other leaves of absence were increased to meet employment standards), said the union.

Other monetary gains include evening, night and weekend premiums (increased by $0.75 per hour), employer-matched RRSP (increased by one per cent), paid holidays (increased to five per cent in lieu), according to AUPE.
