Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $1 per hour for employee performing duties normally performed by uniformed employee. $2 per hour while performing such duties for employee who trains another employee for particular job.

Paid holidays: 13 days including half-days on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Vacations with pay: 1 working day for each full month of service up to 10 days to start, 10 days after 1 year, 13 days after 3 years, 15 days after 5 years, 18 days after 7 years, 20 days after 9 years, 22 days after 12 years, 23 days after 14 years, 24 days after 16 years, 26 days after 18 years, 30 days after 23 years, 31 days after 27 years, 35 days after 30 years. Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 36 days after 31 years, 37 days after 32 years, 38 days after 33 years, 39 days after 34 years, 40 days after 35 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work over regularly scheduled hours of normally scheduled shift or on off-duty days.

Meal allowance: $9 for employees who work more than 3 hours past normal quitting time.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums under Canada Life insurance program or equivalent. Up to $50,000 lifetime maximum for private nursing. Survivor benefits: Employer will pay full cost of premiums for family of member who has died, for 24 months from member’s death. Each employee receives health care spending account of $275 per year ($300 on Jan. 1, 2022; $325 on Jan. 1, 2023).

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for non-deductible plan up to $3,000 annually with regular examinations. Restorative dental services reimbursed on 60/40 employer/employee co-insurance basis (70/30 on Jan. 1, 2022 and 80/20 on Jan. 1, 2024). Orthodontia for dependent children, member, spouse on 50/50 basis up to $3,000 lifetime maximum.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for glasses, laser eye surgery, and eye exams up to $400 every two years per insured ($425 on Jan. 1, 2023).

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for chiropractic, naturopathic, osteopathic, and podiatrist coverage of $50 per visit up to $450 per calendar year. $75 per visit up to $650 per year for therapeutic massage ($700 per year on Jan. 1, 2023). Physiotherapy coverage up to $3,000 per calendar year. Orthotics up to $550 every 2 years.

Sick leave: 12 hours for each month’s service up to 144 hours per year. Can be carried over and accumulated.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of coverage of 66 2/3% of monthly salary after waiting period of 180 consecutive days.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 6 times basic annual earnings to next higher $1,000, maximum of $750,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual earnings to next higher $1,000, maximum of $250,000. Additional units of $10,000 can be purchased by members up to $200,000.

Pension: Employees and employers make equal percentage contributions as required under OMERS pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 7 paid calendar days for death of spouse, child. 3 paid calendar days for death of parent, aunt, uncle, parent-in-law, sibling, sibling-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, spouse’s grandparent. Additional time may be granted at discretion of chief.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 5 hours of straight time for first 2 hours and time and one-half over 2 hours.

Probationary period: 3 months.

Uniforms/clothing: Members required to wear uniforms may have them dry-cleaned 40 times per year.

Editor’s notes: Service pay: Paid once yearly on or before Nov. 15: $350 after 5 years; $550 after 10 years; $750 after 15 years; $1,000 after 20 years; $1,200 after 25 years; $1,400 after 30 years; $1,700 after 35 years. Hearing aid: $500 every 5 years. Travel, meal, accommodation allowances: $70 per week for employees who attend courses held at Ontario Police College and Canadian Police College. Employees who provide their own transportation will also be reimbursed for mileage for 1 round trip, for each 5 weeks. $75 per day for meals: $10 for breakfast; $18 for lunch; $32 for dinner; $15 for other ancillary expenses. Commissioners of oath: $450 per year for each position for any employee assigned to act as commissioner of oaths.
