Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified on March 29, 2019. Signed on March 29, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 2%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 2.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 3%

Shift premium: $1 per hour for employees working on Sunday.

Paid holidays: 11 days. When library is scheduled to be open on Sundays, Easter Sunday will be treated as paid holiday. Employees who work on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve will work minimum of 3 hours and library will close at 1:30 p.m., with no loss of pay for regularly scheduled hours.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 4,160 hours of service, 4 weeks after 16,640 hours of service, 5 weeks after 31,200 hours of service, 6 weeks after 52,000 hours of service, 7 weeks after 62,400 hours of service. Employees may carry over 5 days per year but must be used in succeeding year.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Medical benefits: Employees will receive $1,000 for health spending account after 1 year of service. Any balance unused by Dec. 31 may be carried forward into following year, maximum $2,000.

Sick leave: 1.25 days per month, maximum 30 working days.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of parent, spouse, common-law spouse, child, stepchild, guardian, primary caregiver, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law. Additional 2 days when death occurs outside province. One-half day will be granted to attend funeral for any relative not listed or personal friend. Additional unpaid leaves may be approved on case-by-case basis.

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of regular pay.

Probationary period: 6 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.

Start rate: $16.32 rising 4 steps to $17.25            

After 2,080 hours: $16.32 rising 4 steps to $17.58

After 4,160 hours: $16.63 rising 4 steps to $17.90

Library assistant 3

Start rate: $17.76 rising 4 steps to $19.13

After 2,080 hours: $18.15 rising 4 steps to $19.54

After 4,160 hours: $18.48 rising 4 steps to $19.90

After 6,240 hours: $18.87 rising 4 steps to $20.32

Custodian

Start rate: $18.64 rising 4 steps to $20.07

Editor’s notes: Meetings: Employee’s attendance at staff meeting, either before or after shift or on day off, will be paid at regular rate of pay. If attendance exceeds 8-hour shift, overtime will apply.
