Municipal employees from the Town of Esterhazy recently joined the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

“We are thrilled that the workers at the Town of Esterhazy voted to join our growing union,” said Guy Marsden, CUPE national representative. “We are looking forward to negotiating a fair wage increase, and a legally binding first collective agreement.”

The newest members of CUPE voted to join the union in a mail-in ballot that was counted on April 9.  The Labour Relations Board issued the certification order on April 29, said the union.

CUPE represents more than 5,100 municipal workers across Saskatchewan in more than 40 bargaining units across the province.
