United Steelworkers (USW) Local 5220 members ratified the tentative agreement on June 7, that was reached with Moly-Cop AltaSteel in Edmonton on May 27.

The four-year agreement was accepted by 90 per cent of the members voting at dual meetings.

The workers had been working without a contract since the previous agreement expired July 31, 2017.

“We are sure that the new agreement will provide the path forward for the relationship between the union and the company and that the parties will be able to focus on building AltaSteel,” said Paul Perreault, USW, Local 5220 president.
