Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2021 to Aug. 31, 2025. Signed on Feb. 23, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Sept. 1, 2021: 1.5%

Effective Sept. 1, 2022: 1.5%

Effective Sept. 1, 2023: GNWT negotiated salary grid increase plus 0.25%

Effective Sept. 1, 2024: GNWT negotiated salary grid increase plus 0.25%

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employer will provide health spending account of $800 per year. Participation in health plans will be condition of employment for all employees.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Routine: 100% reimbursement, combined maximum $4,000 per person, per covered employee, per year. Major: 50% reimbursement, combined maximum $4,000 per person, per covered employee, per year.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $600 every 2 years (previously $300) for adults; every year for children.

Sick leave: 2 days for each school month worked, maximum 20 days per year. Unused credits will accumulate, maximum 150 days.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 75% of monthly earnings, maximum $6,000 per month.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual salary, maximum of $300,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual salary, maximum of $300,000.

Pension: Employer will contribute 8%, employee will contribute 8% to Northern Employee Benefit Service (NEBS) DB pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 7 days for death in immediate family (father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, sister, brother, spouse, child, stepchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchild, relative who acted as employee’s guardian for at least 10 years prior to employee reaching age of majority, all relatives residing with employee). 1 day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew.

Probationary period: First 2 years of active service.

Mileage: $100 per month ($175 per month for employees assigned to work at Dettah School).

Editor’s notes: Graduation leave: Maximum 3 days to attend graduation of employee, spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, grandchild of employee or of employee’s spouse when ceremony takes place outside of Yellowknife; 1 full day if graduation is in Yellowknife. Professional development: Employer will provide $150,000 per year (previously $ 105,000 per year) to professional development committee for professional development. Effective Sept. 1, 2023: $160,000 per year. Travel assistance supplement: $700 per year after 5 years of service; $1,000 per year after 10 years of service.
