Renewal agreement: Effective March 10, 2019 to March 10, 2023. Ratified in March 2019. Signed on March 27, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective March 10, 2019: 6%

Effective March 10, 2020: 2.8%

Effective March 10, 2021: 2.8%

Effective March 10, 2022: 2.7%

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for continental shift schedule and midnight shift Monday to Friday. $0.75 per hour for afternoon shift Monday to Friday.

Paid holidays: 9 days.

Vacations with pay: Prorated to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for any hours worked in excess of regularly scheduled shifts per week or on statutory holidays. Employees are only eligible for overtime when all base hours are worked in regular workweek. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours. May not be carried over into following year or will be paid out (employee may use banked overtime from previous calendar year during March shutdown).

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $290 every 24 months.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $400 for chiropractor, massage therapy.

Sick leave: 48 hours per year. Any unused leave will be paid out.

Pension: DC pension plan. Employee contributes 3% of earnings, matched by employer. Option of contributing 3.5% with employer matching.

Bereavement leave: 4 paid days for death of spouse, child, stepchild, foster-child, parent, sibling, stepparent, parent-in-law, child-in-law. 3 paid days for death of sibling-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, spouse’s grandparent. 1 paid day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, great-grandparent, great-grandparent-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for layoffs (sooner if employee elects to receive termination or severance pay pursuant to Employment Standards Act) or for employee who is displaced from classification due to reduction in workforce.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at regular rate if called in outside of regular hours. Minimum 4 hours’ pay at time and one-half for maintenance employees.

Probationary period: 520 hours worked.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.

Safety shoes: $150 per calendar year. $175 per year for employees requiring waterproof footwear. Skilled trades and shipping and receiving co-ordinators receive second pair.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer supplies any uniform or protective equipment (excluding safety shoes and prescription safety glasses) required to be worn. $150 per year for prescription safety glasses. Skilled trades, shipping and receiving coordinator, and housekeepers supplied with all-weather coats.

Pharmaceutical packaging operator, housekeeper: $16.50 rising 4 steps to $19.15

Pharmaceutical manufacturing GU/CU/Encaps operator: $20 rising 4 steps to $22.97

Pharmaceutical manufacturing finishing operator: $16.50 rising 4 steps to $19.15

Encaps lead-hand: $23.14 rising in 3 steps to $24.64

GCU lead-hand: $22.05 rising in 3 steps to $23.55

Finishing lead-hand: $19.99 rising in 3 steps to $21.49

Packaging lead-hand: $19.73 rising in 3 steps to $21.23

Shipping and receiving coordinator/stockroom attendant: $18.50 rising 4 steps to $21.75

Skilled trades: $36.60 rising in 3 steps to $38

Apprentices

First 1,000 hours: Minimum 65% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Second 1,000 hours: Minimum 70% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Third 1,000 hours: Minimum 75% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Fourth 1,000 hours: Minimum 80% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Fifth 1,000 hours: Minimum 85% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Sixth 1,000 hours: Minimum 90% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Seventh 1,000 hours: Minimum 95% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Eighth 1,000 hours: Minimum 100% of skilled tradesperson wage rate

Signing bonus: $500

Editor’s notes: Shutdown: During plant shutdown, employees have option of using vacation time. Education and training: Employer pays full cost of all courses and seminars which it requires employees to take relating to job. Employer will reimburse cost of courses and seminars taken by choice that are related to position with employer up to $1,250 per year. Gratitude days: Employer will recognize 3 paid gratitude days for each employee per year. Maintenance, housekeeping employees that are required to work on gratitude days over Christmas shutdown will be given option to receive pay in lieu or bank time to be used later at time and one-half. Safety training: 2 worker representatives will complete health and safety certification training, first aid, CPR training within 3 months of joining joint health and safety committee. Employer will pay full cost of certification training including lost time, course fees and materials, and approved expenses. Prescription safety glasses: $150 every 24 months provided employer requires employee to wear safety glasses. Hearing aids: $1,000 every 5 years.
