Concerns about heavy workloads top reason for joining: ONA
The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) said new members from Northwood Lodge Home for the Aged joined the union on Aug. 20.
“The registered nurses working for this Red Lake, Ont. home have concerns about their heavy workloads, which they say impedes their ability to provide the kind of care their vulnerable residents need and deserve,” says Vicki McKenna, ONA president.
One of the services of significance to ONA members experiencing short-staffed workplaces is a professional-responsibility clause, which provides a process for addressing workloads that interfere with registered nurses meeting their professional standards, says the union.
