Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on May 1, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2019 : 2%

Effective July 1, 2020 : 2%

Effective July 1, 2021 : 2%

Shift premium: $0.44 per hour (previously $0.35 per hour) for all hours worked outside hours between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. (if majority of hours of special shift occurs after 4 p.m., then premium will be paid for entire shift). $0.25 per hour for holding SOFA first-aid certificate. $0.50 per hour for holding level 2 first-aid certificate. $0.85 per hour for holding level 3 first-aid certificate.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 6.5% to start, 15 days of 6.5% after 1 year, 16 days or 6.75% after 4 years, 17 days or 7% after 5 years, 18 days or 8% after 6 years, 19 days or 8.25% after 7 years, 20 days or 8.5% after 8 years, 21 days or 8.5% after 12 years, 22 days or 8.5% after 13 years, 23 days or 10.5% after 14 years, 25 days or 10.5% after 15 years, 26 days or 10.5% after 16 years, 27 days or 10.5% after 17 years, 28 days or 12.5% after 18 years, 30 days or 12.5% after 20 years, 35 days or 12.5% after 30 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7 or 7.5 hours per day or 35 or 37.5 or 40 hours per week. Time may be banked and taken as time off in lieu. Time not taken by June 30 each year will be paid out. Double time for all overtime past 4 hours per day, Monday to Saturday inclusive. Double time for all work on Sunday.

Medical benefits: Employees will be covered under Public Education Benefits Trust Fund (PEBT). Employer pays 100% of premiums for B.C. Medical Services Plan. Employer pays 65% of premiums, employee pays 35% of premiums for employee family assistance plan.

Dental: Employees will be covered under Public Education Benefits Trust Fund (PEBT). Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $400 every 24 months (previously $175 every 24 months) .

Sick leave: 1.5 days per month.

STD: Employer pays 65% of premiums, employee pays 35% of premiums for coverage of 2/3 of employees gross weekly wages.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $40,000.

Life insurance: Employees will be covered under Public Education Benefits Trust Fund (PEBT). Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $40,000.

Pension: All employees will become members of Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law spouse/same sex partner), children (including stepchildren), parents, stepparents and grandparents of employee; parents, stepparents and grandparents of spouse, brothers and sisters, grandparents, grandchildren and stepchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, foster-children).

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months if employee is transferred to position outside bargaining unit.

Probationary period: 3 months from date of initial regular appointment.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 years or all disciplinary letters.

Severance: 1 month’s salary after 5 years of service.

Safety shoes: $150 per year for protective steel-toed footwear for shipping/receiving clerks (employee will be required to wear safety footwear during work hours).

Uniforms/clothing: $100 per year (previously $50 per year) for bathing suits, non-slip footwear where employee’s assignment requires them to regularly be in swimming pool.

Editor’s notes: Staff development fund: Employer will provide $7,000 per year for staff-development purposes. Monies unspent in any year will accumulate on year-to-year basis. When employee is in attendance at staff-development day, hours of pay will be equal to employee’s regular daily hours of work or time of in-service, whichever is greater. Long-service employees: On employee’s 15th, 19th, 30th anniversary, employee will be eligible for 5 1-time bonus vacation days. Employee with 20 years of service will receive 1-time bonus of 10 consecutive days off. Retirement benefit: Employee reaching retirement age and having completed 10 years of service will be given bonus of 1 month’s pay (bonus is in addition to any holiday or accrued sick leave with pay to which employee may be entitled). Employee having completed 5 years’ service and reaching 55 years of age will receive payment upon retirement of all accrued sick leave, maximum 120 days. Insurance: Employer will reimburse employees who suffer loss from theft, fire, malicious damage to employee’s vehicle while parked on school property, maximum $300 (previously maximum $200). When employees who use vehicle on employer business incur damage to vehicle by means other than collision, employer will reimburse employee to value of comprehensive deductible on vehicle.
