Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Ratified on May 16, 2019. Signed on April 15, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective 2019: 1.75 %

Effective 2020: 1.75 %

Effective 2021: 1.75 %

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for all hours worked between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m., any day of week. 4% for employee performing duties of designated recruit field training officer, field coach (only for positions below senior first-class constable). 4% for employee designated as school resource officer. 4% for employee who serves in administrative role outside regular patrol function.

Paid holidays: 12 days, plus New Year’s Eve, Christmas Eve (previously 12 days).

Vacations with pay: 80 hours to start, 120 hours after 6 years, 160 hours after 14 years, 200 hours after 23 years, 240 hours after 24 years.

Overtime: Double time for all work after 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Double time when non-scheduled shift is being covered by employee due to shift change or illness, with less than 48 hours’ notice. Overtime provisions do not apply to seminars, courses, other training related to employee’s occupation. Time may be accumulated, maximum 40 hours. Employees may use time banked, maximum 120 hours per year.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums for Alberta Health Care Insurance, employee pays 25% of premiums, after 3 months of service. Employer will provide $500 per year for health spending account. Employer will provide $500 per year for wellness account.

Dental: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums for coverage under AMSC (Alberta Municipal Services Corporation).

Vision: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums for coverage under AMSC.

Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums for coverage under AMSC.

Sick leave: 8 hours per month, maximum 240 hours accumulated and used per year. 4 shifts per year casual sick leave to provide care for child, spouse, parent.

LTD: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums for coverage under AMSC.

Life insurance: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums for coverage of double employee’s regular rate under AMSC.

Pension: All employees will participate in Special Forces Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of immediate relative (parent, guardian (person who was employee’s guardian for 6 consecutive months or if employee was guardian for 6 consecutive months) wife, husband, brother, sister, child, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law). Employee may apply for travelling time, maximum 3 days with pay.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.

Call-in pay: Double time for all hours worked, minimum 3 hours.

Probationary period: 18 months.
