Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020. Ratified on March 25, 2019. Signed on June 26, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2019: 1%

Shift premium: $2.75 per hour for all hours worked between 3p.m. to 11 p.m. $4.75 per hour (previously $4.50 per hour) for all hours worked between 11p.m. and 7 a.m. $3.25 per hour for 64-hour period between 3 p.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. on Monday. $2 per hour when employer designates licensed practical nurse to assume responsibility for staff supervision, clinical coordination, administrative/organizational duties as required.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 5years, 25 days after 17 years.

Overtime: Double time for all work after 7.75 hours per day, after 77.5 hours per 2-week period or on scheduled day of rest. May be taken as time off in lieu but must be taken by last day of March in any year or will be paid out. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: employee may choose to bank equivalent time off in lieu, maximum 2 weeks.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Desjardin Supplementary Benefits Plan (80% payment provision for medication).

Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Desjardin Supplementary Benefits Plan (80% payment provision for medication). 80% for basic services. 50% for extensive services. 50% for orthodontic services. Maximum $2,500 per person per year for extensive services. $2,500 lifetime maximum reimbursement per person for orthodontic services.

Paramedical: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. $500 per practitioner per year ($50 per visit for all practitioners).

Sick leave: After probationary period, 12 hours for every 173paid hours, maximum credit of 620 hours.

Life insurance: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for coverage of 1 times annual salary, minimum $25,000 (previously minimum $10,000).

Pension: Employer will maintain RRSP with voluntary participation by employees. Employer will match employee contributions, maximum 2%, to start. Employer will match employee contributions, maximum 2.5%, after 5years of service. Employer will match employee contributions, maximum 3%, after 10 years of service.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse (common-law, same-sex relationship), child, parent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, guardian, fiancé, stepparent, stepchildren, stepbrother). Employer may extend leave for 2 additional days. 1day to attend funeral services for death of another relative or close friend.

Seniority – recall rights: 24months.

Probationary period: 480hours worked.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2years; 5 years for disciplinary action as result of resident mistreatment.

Severance: 1.5 weeks of pay for each full year of service, maximum 24 weeks’ pay.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will ensure that reasonable amount of adequate supplies of protective apparel and equipment (gloves, gowns, masks, protective eyewear, digital equipment) are provided to ensure safety of employees.

Mileage: $0.44 per kilometre.

Editor’s notes: Transportation: Employees who normally travel from centre to place of residence by public transportation after shift but are prevented from doing so by remaining on duty longer than regular shift and past time when normal public transportation is available, will be reimbursed for reasonable transportation expense from centre to place of residence.
