When a wireless modem is added, the cost can run to more than $4,300 annually. When looking at total cost of ownership (TCO) software and service costs can average $50 a month per user. To understand the return on investment, total benefit of ownership, (TBO) must also be clear. Benefits include increased productivity, increased revenues, better accuracy from constant communication and the elimination of redundant processes.

Ottawa — Are Canadians getting tired of the Internet? According to Statistics Canada, the rate at which Canadian homes are going online is slowing down after years of precipitous growth. The usage rate for 2001 was up nine per cent from 2000, down two points from the 2000 growth rate. More than 5.8 million Canadian households had at least one person going online regularly from home in 2001.

Base pay now averages US $67,900 per year. Respondents to the survey said competitive pay is the most effective retention practice in 2002 while it ranked only fourth in 2001. A competitive benefits package came in second. The study also revealed it is hardest to find database administrators and security managers.
