Unemployment rate falls to 9.4 per cent, lowest since May 2009

(Reuters)  — Employers in the United States hired far fewer workers than expected in December, showing the world's biggest economy still struggling to gain momentum, but the unemployment rate dropped to a more than one-and-a-half year low.
