Ontario government helps students find summer jobs

Employers benefit from $2-per-hour hiring incentive

The government of Ontario is helping more than 100,000 Ontario students find summer jobs.

With the 2011 budget, the province is providing additional support — $22.5 million — to help students gain work experience through the Summer Jobs program. This brings the government's total annual investment in the program to more than $91 million.

Employers are encouraged to hire and provide hands-on training for students through a $2-per-hour hiring incentive.

Ontario's summer jobs programs and services are open to students aged 15 to 30 who are planning to return to school this fall.

Job opportunities are now available through Employment Ontario's summer jobs website, where students can:

•find job listings

•search for a job through Employment Ontario agencies

•get help to improve their marketing skills and resume writing

•learn how to start their own summer company

•apply for a job with the government of Ontario.

Last summer, the government helped more than 130,000 Ontario students find jobs.
