This German man is sick of commuting to work, so he's swimming there instead.

Benjamin David used to take the bus or bike to work every day through the congested streets of Munich.

The beer garden worker now packs his laptop and clothes into a waterproof bag and slides into the River Isar for his journey.

"Today the current is quite strong and I only need about 12 minutes. It is beautifully refreshing and also the fastest way."

The beer garden where David works is located on the river.

The Isar flows near the center of the Bavarian capital.

Temperatures in winter sometimes dip to around 39˚F (4˚C).

But David says it's perfectly doable with the right wetsuit.
