Publication provides answers about maternity, parental leave for Albertans

Alberta, HRSD team up to produce booklet featuring frequently asked questions

The Alberta government has put out a new publication with answers about maternity and parental leave for all employees in the province.

Becoming a Parent in Alberta answers frequently asked questions about who is eligible for leave and benefits, how and when to apply for maternity and parental leave and benefits, and human rights protection for pregnant workers.

“This one-stop resource has important and comprehensive information that Albertans can use to make informed choices about their family and work life,” said Clint Dunford, Minister of Alberta Human Resources and Employment.

The booklet is a joint initiative between Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, Alberta Human Resources and Employment and the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission.

Copies are available at www.gov.ab.ca/hre/employmentstandards/publications/index.asp.
