Succession planning is expected to play an increasingly important role as the baby boomers vacate the workforce, leaving organizations with a number of gaps to fill. Whereas it may have seemed less important a decade ago, a greater focus is being placed on the need to create a functional succession plan for key positions across the entire organization — not just for executive positions.
