Alberta is still the most popular province in Canada according to new migration data from Statistics Canada. From July 2005 to July 2006, the oil-rich western province had a net migration rate of 20.3 people for every 1,000 residents.

British Columbia was a distant second with a net migration rate of 12.3 people and Ontario was third with a rate of 9.6 people. These rankings were the same in the 2004-2005 data.

The data looks at people who moved into or out of the country as well as those who moved from one city to another and from on province to another.
