Editor’s note: Canada’s Greenest Employers, a competition run by Mediacorp Canada — publishers of the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers list — recognizes companies that are fostering the best corporate cultures of environmental stewardship across the country. The 30 companies that made the list in 2009 range from universities to car manufacturers, banks to townships. Here, we take a look at three winners based in Western Canada.

Intrawest ULC

Intrawest ULC at Whistler Blackcomb, the alpine skiing venue for the 2010 Olympic Games located about a two-hour drive from Vancouver, is a ski resort complex in British Columbia long dedicated to environmental stewardship. Its environmental management strategy was established in 1992 when the resort decided it needed to create its own model for environmental protection.
