CIBC, Loblaw and Shaw Communications are among the 55 employers recognized as Canada's Best Diversity Employers, according to Mediacorp Canada.

The annual competition recognizes employers that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs, looking at a range of diversity initiatives, including programs for five major employee groups: women, visible minorities, people with disabilities, Aboriginal Peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered/transsexual (LGBT) peoples.

More than 3,500 employers across Canada started the application process for this year's competition, which was reduced to a short-listed group of employers with noteworthy and unique diversity initiatives. Each short-listed candidate's programs were reviewed to determine how they compared to those of other employers in the same field.
