Renewal agreement: Effective March 1, 2018 to Feb. 28, 2023. Signed on March 1, 2018.
Shift premium: $0.60 per hour for all hours worked on afternoon shift. $0.70 per hour for all hours worked on night shift. $1 per hour worked for employees specifically maintaining blast freezers, shipping/receiving freezer.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1 floating day holiday (additional floating day after 2 years of seniority).
Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, or 4% to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 40 hours per week.
Meal allowance: $8 for employee who works 2 hours or more outside of scheduled shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: 100% coverage for basic dental services. 80% coverage for major dental services. 50% coverage for orthodontics for dependent children only ($2,000 per covered child lifetime maximum). Maximum $2,000 per year per covered person.
Vision: $300 every 24 months. $80 every 24 months for eye examinations.
Paramedical: $1,500 per calendar year per family for all practitioners combined (chiropractor, chiropodist/podiatrist, osteopath, naturopath, occupational therapist, registered massage therapist, clinical psychologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, when treatment is prescribed by licensed doctor as to duration and type).
STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 70% of weekly earnings, maximum 37 weeks.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $1,000 per month.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual earnings.
Pension: Teamsters DC pension plan. Employer will contribute 4.7% of pensionable earnings per month. Effective March 1, 2020: 4.8% of pensionable earnings per month. Effective March 1, 2021: 4.9% of pensionable earnings per month. Effective March 1, 2022: 5% of pensionable earnings per month.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother or step sister, grandchild, grandparent). 1 day for death of sister-in-law, brother-in-law. Leave may be extended without pay, maximum 14 days in total.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Probationary period: 90 worked days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months (does not apply to infractions under article 16 (intoxication, substance abuse, harassment, violence-free workplace) or serious health and safety infractions, which includes food-safety infractions).
Severance: 1 week’s pay per year of service to start; 1 week’s pay plus 1 week’s pay per year and part year of service after 5 years of service; 8 weeks’ pay plus 1 week’s pay per year of service after 8 years of service, maximum 26 weeks. Maximum 34 weeks for any employee.
Safety shoes: $150 per year for CSA-approved safety footwear or rubberized safety boots ($180 per year for maintenance classifications).
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply aprons, rubber gloves, launderable work clothing, gloves, hairnets and head coverings. Employer will supply protective-clothing (freezer suit and special freezer mitts and/or gloves) to freezer workers, including shipping/receiving/general-palletizing employees). Employer will supply thermal suits to employees who work in the freezer at SDC and gloves on as-needed basis.
Tool allowance: Employer will supply knives, steels, scabbards (new employees will be charged for tools but will be reimbursed after probationary period). $300 per year for maintenance classifications (skilled-trades group); $200 per year all other maintenance classifications.
