CSTD honours first Fellow

Academic and author recognized for contributions to training and development

David Weiss has been recognized for his significant achievements and contributions to training and development and has been awarded the first Fellow designation from the Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD).

Weiss is the president and CEO of Toronto-based consulting firm Weiss International, an affiliate professor at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and a senior research fellow at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont. He is also the author of four business books, including The Leadership Gap and High Performance HR.

“His research, innovative ideas and insights on approaches to adult education and leadership have contributed to a shift in the way organizations view learning and leadership development,” said Robert Pearson, chair of the CSTD board.

For the past 25 years, Weiss has been a significant contributor to the field of training and development through his consulting career, research, academic pursuits and his writing and presentations.

Through his work, Weiss has reached thousands of business leaders, training and development professionals, human resource professionals and students throughout Canada, North America, Europe and Asia.

“As a volunteer, friend and supporter of the CSTD, and as one of Canada's premier thought leaders in workplace learning and leadership development, I can think of no one more deserving to be CSTD’s first Fellow,” said Hugh MacDonald, former CSTD chair.

The Fellow category was developed to acknowledge CSTD members who have attained eminence in the field of training and development. A CSTD Fellow is recognized by their peers, the CSTD board and the Fellow Nominating Committee for their achievements and contributions to the society and the learning and development profession.
