E-learning needed to upgrade skills

Toolkit helps employers develop program

A report from the Conference Board of Canada, E-Learning for the Workplace: Creating Canada’s Lifelong Learners, indicates that e-learning can teach workers the skills they need for tomorrow’s workplace.

This conclusion is significant, given that 30 per cent of employers feel their workers do not have the skills they need now and 76 per cent believe they won’t have the skills they’ll need in three years.

The problem facing employers, however, is how to implement an e-learning program. Note that e-learning can take many forms, including the use of computers, the Internet, teleconferencing and wireless technologies.

The Conference Board supplies a solution for employers seeking to make e-learning available to their workers. It has developed a toolkit to help organizations plan, build, integrate, evaluate and improve an e-learning program.
