In the U.K., women earn half of what men earn

More than 40 per cent of British women earn less than $225 (Cdn) a week.

Women in Britain take home about half of men’s earnings according to a new report published by the Women’s Unit in the U.K.

More than 40 per cent of British women have individual incomes of less than $223.49 (Cdn) a week, compared with half as many men earning low salaries.

Single women with no children earn the most.

In Britain, women tend to achieve their earnings peak between the ages of 25 and 29. For men, it’s between the ages of 45 and 49.

A government representative said they are taking action to fix the disparity including encouraging women to think more carefully about career choices and making training and development more accessible.
