60 companies competed for province's top HR honours
The winners of Quebec's HR association's Best Employers Competition were announced at the association's annual conference.
The Ordre des CHRA et CRIA du Quebec (ORHRI) received 60 entrants in this year's competition, which pays tribute to Quebec businesses that implement best practices in human resources management.
The awards highlight the work of organizations that provide a healthy and stimulating work environment and contribute to the welfare of employees.
"At a time when employers are fiercely competing to attract and retain skilled workers, the (best employers) competition provides an excellent opportunity for employers to find out what motivates employee engagement and mobilization," said ORHRI president and CEO Florent Francoeur.
The winners are:
Large employer (500 or more employees): Xerox (document solutions company)
Medium employer (200 to 499 employees): Sofitel (hotel chain)
Small employer (50 to 199 employees): L-IPSE (IT consulting firm)
Participating organizations fill out questionnaires prepared by HR consulting firm Watson Wyatt that collect information on the quality of the work environment and leadership, the decision-making process and professional development and training.
The main objective of the competition is to encourage Quebec businesses to become better employers through evaluating their efforts based on employee feedback and in comparison with other organizations.
The competition also evaluates employees' productive engagement and identifies organizational strengths and weaknesses to allow businesses to adopt the most appropriate tools.
