Gossiping, missing deadlines other pet peeves
It pays to sweat the small stuff. Thirty-two per cent of CFOs said a lack of attention to detail and sloppy work are the co-worker behaviours that annoy them most, according to a survey by Accountemps of 270 Canadian CFOs.
"Today's office is a fast-paced work environment but remembering to take an extra beat to check your work will ultimately deliver better results for both you and the organization," said Kathryn Bolt, Canadian president of Accountemps.
Gossiping or engaging in office politics are also pet peeves, according to 24 per cent of respondents. Employees should be encouraged to remove themselves from these situations, said Bolt.
"Engaging in any form of gossip in the office could damage credibility," she said. "Trust is an essential component in building solid relationships with co-workers."
Other annoying behaviours include missing deadlines (18 per cent), being perpetually late (15 per cent) and presenting other’s ideas as one’s own (eight per cent).
