Web Sight<br> Surfing foreign shores

With more and more applicants searching online for employment opportunities, the world has truly become a “smaller place” for recruiters. Within seconds a job can be posted, not just for a Canadian audience but also for candidates around the globe. This issue I have searched for related links in three general categories:

1. job boards that have an international or global focus;

2. resources that can provide further references to tap into foreign labour markets; and lastly

3. Web sites that provide information on international labour markets, trends and so on.

Begin by taking a look at the opportunities on the many job board sites. The obvious benefit is that positions can be posted within another country for the same cost as you would to advertise it “locally.”

With the reputation for a high standard of living, and more and more people around the world looking to Canada as a “new opportunity,” because of it, expect some of these job boards to be the starting point for people across the world to check out Canadian job opportunities. Many of the job boards also offer related news articles of interest to those professionals working in the recruiting field.

“Virtual Career Fairs” have become a major hit with many Colleges and Universities. It’s no longer necessary to pack the van with all the corporate displays, highlighter pens and company golf shirts to make a trip down to the US for a job fair to reach those graduates. That can now be done from the office with a few clicks. The following web sites provide links to various colleges and universities (mainly in the U.S.) so you can contact those schools directly to attract new graduates up to Canada.
