Tips on how to get the most out of Canada's premiere information source for HR practitioners

Welcome to www.hrreporter.com, the most comprehensive source of HR information on the Internet.

Did you know:

Subscribers to Canadian HR Reporter can view entire issues online? The 11 most recent issues are packaged live on the site for your perusal. You’ll also notice the cover image of the most recent issue displayed on the home page.

Check out http://www.hrreporter.com/Issue.aspx to see the most current issue.

Online archive. Paid subscribers also have access to the online archive, featuring thousands of articles dating back to mid-2000. To search those articles, simply enter a keyword in the search box on the top right-hand side of the page. Or click advanced search for more options.

The popular Executive Series is also featured prominently. The Executive Series is a partnership between Canadian HR Reporter and the Strategic Capabilities Network (SCNetwork) and appears 12 times per year in the pages of Canadian HR Reporter. You can view recent Executive Series topics at http://www.hrreporter.com/CloseUp.aspx.

Keyword searches. A keyword search can be done directly from any page in the search box at the top-left of the page. The advanced search function has been retained, where visitors can select articles by category, subcategory and article number.

It’s all been designed to make it fast and easy for subscribers to get in-depth information on hot topics in HR.

Access levels

Three different access levels for www.hrreporter.com include: guest, member and subscriber.

Guests have access to News from the Canadian Workplace and News from the Global Workplace, viewable on the home page. They also have access to the Events Calendar and HR Guide online. They can also peruse headlines from recent issues and Executive Series, but can’t access those articles.

Members have to access to News from the Canadian Workplace and News from the Global Workplace. They also have access to view all of the articles on the 11 category pages (Benefits, Compensation, etc.) and access to the Events Calendar and HR Guide online.

If you’re a subscriber to Canadian HR Reporter, you have access to everything on this site, including the Canadian HR Reporter archive — an extensive collection featuring thousands of articles from past issues dating back to mid-2000.

Having trouble logging on?

We want to help you get access to our site. If you are a paid subscriber, and have never logged on to the site before, it's easy. Make sure you have your mailing label handy (that's the white sticker on your copy of Canadian HR Reporter that has your address on it.) You'll need the first name, last name and postal code that appear on it. Then simply go to http://www.hrreporter.com/ProfileUpdate.aspx and enter that information, and you'll be able to select your username and password.

Note: Make sure you include a space between the postal code. (for example, N8N 2Y9) If the subscription is in your company’s name, simply leave the first name and last name fields blank and just enter the postal code.

You can also contact our customer relations department at anytime by calling (800) 387-5164 for assistance or e-mail [email protected].

Helpful tip: If you're looking for a "Login Screen" you won't find one, until you hit a "subscribers-only" area. At that time, you'll automatically get a login screen. So if you haven't hit a login screen, keep surfing!

If you still have trouble, send an e-mail to [email protected]. (Don't wait until you're so frustrated you want to scream — chances are the solution is quite simple and we can help.)

After you log in the first time, set your login screen to “Remember first name, last name and postal code.” Then any time the login screen comes up, just click on “Login” (without entering your name or postal code). It will remember you.

Let us do your research

One of this site’s most valuable features is the search engine. Unlike other search engines that bring up everything under the sun on a given topic (much of it out of date or irrelevant), our editors have taken the time to categorize each article. So you can choose “Category: Recruitment,” for example, and find a series of relevant articles that will help you.

Articles are archived back to June 5, 2000. New articles are being added all the time, and each issue is archived on the date it is issued.

Searching tips

You don’t have to choose a topic to find an article. Simply typing in an author’s last name should narrow down the search sufficiently. Or type a single word in the “keyword” box. It will scan all the text and locate articles with that word in them.
