Canadian HR Reporter evolves to help HR professionals do their jobs
If you’re an HR practitioner, you may not have noticed this — but you’re probably one of the busiest professionals in your workplace. Every HR person I know is constantly on the go, in both good times and bad.
As a publication, Canadian HR Reporter works hard to ensure you have the information you need to keep going. We go all out to keep you informed with news, trends, advice and information about the workplace, the HR profession and your own career path. Along with our staff of in-house professional journalists, we have access to the most reliable HR-compliance information in the country published by Carswell, and the resources of our parent company Thomson Reuters. That’s why we’re able to cover the profession like no other publication or website.
But we’re not content to stand still. Just as the HR profession has evolved from the personnel department into a critical strategic partner, this publication constantly evolves as well. And 2009 will be no different. We have a number of exciting new initiatives we’ve already launched — or will be launching shortly. Here’s a brief rundown.
Follow us on Twitter: I’m now “tweeting” on a regular basis. If you have a Twitter account, start following what we’re up to — our username is HRReporter or go to http://twitter.com/HRReporter.
Blogs and boards: In the next couple of weeks, you’ll notice a couple of new additions to Canadian HR Reporter’s website, www.hrreporter.com. Gord Sova, editor of CLV Reports, a sister publication, will be blogging about labour relations. And we’ll be launching a discussion board in partnership with the Strategic Capabilities Network, looking at items of interest to senior HR professionals. Watch for more blogs in the future.
Canadian Employment Law Answers: Launched at the start of the year, this looseleaf is a collection of all the great information from the “Ask an Expert” column in Canadian Employment Law Today, a sister publication to Canadian HR Reporter. It features hundreds of common, and not so common, legal questions posed by employers like yourselves, answered by some of the top employment lawyers across the country. To order, click here.
Canadian HR Reporter White Paper Series: Also launched at the start of 2009, the white paper series — titled Current & Critical Issues in HR Management — presents practical information on a wide range of HR management issues. For more information, go to www.hrreporter.com/wp.
Western Report: Starting with this issue, readers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia will see a special section focused on stories of interest to western HR practitioners. The new section, titled Western Report, will be published once a month. Subscribers in the rest of the country will still get all the same great information they’re used to in Canadian HR Reporter — we’re not scaling back any coverage — and will also be able to access articles from the Western Report online. We’re excited to add this special regional coverage in addition to our strong national coverage.
