Renewal agreement: Effective Nov. 1, 2019 to Oct. 31, 2022. Ratified on Dec. 2, 2019. Signed on Dec. 2, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Dec. 1, 2019: 4%

Effective Nov. 1, 2020: 1%

Effective Oct. 23, 2021: 1%

Shift premium: $2 per hour (previously $1.75 per hour) for all hours worked on afternoon, weekend shifts.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 10 days or 4% to start, 15 days or 6% after 12 months, 15 days or 8% after 60 months, 20 days or 10% after 120 months, 25 days or 10% after 180 months.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 40 hours per week (8- or 10-hour schedules) or all work after 36 hours per week (12-hour schedules). Time and one-half for all work on Saturday, Sunday, holidays. Double time after 12 hours of overtime. For compressed workweeks, all hours beyond 10 hours of work per day or 40 hours per week are overtime.

Meal allowance: Hot meal will be provided immediately after conclusion of 2-hour time period and every 4 hours thereafter, with 20 minutes paid at double time to consume meal (when working more than 2 hours beyond quitting time). In lieu of meal, $20 allowance may be paid.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care insurance. Employer will contribute $0.02 per hour for each employee to CEFAP (Construction Employee Family Assistance Program) program each month (after 90 days of employment) for service that is offered through BCABEAP (Boilermaker Contractors of Alberta Employee Assistance Program) and Homewood Health Solution.

Dental: 100% for basic, major restorative. $2,500 combined maximum per year. 60% for orthodontics, $2,000 lifetime maximum.

Vision: $800 per 24 months for lenses. $150 per 24 months for frames. $400 per 12 months for prescription safety glasses. $1,900 lifetime maximum for laser eye surgery.

Paramedical: $300 per person per practitioner type (audiologist, chiropractor, homeopath, massage therapist, naturopath, occupational therapist, osteopath, podiatrist/chiropodist, speech therapist). Maximum $1,000 per person per practitioner per year.

STD: Coverage of 67% of weekly earnings.

LTD: Coverage of 67% of monthly earnings, maximum $2,400.

AD&D: Coverage of $75,000 (previously $50,000).

Life insurance: Coverage of $75,000 (previously $50,000).

Pension: Employer will contribute $2 per hour per employee into Boilermakers’ National Pension Plan (Canada) after 90 days of employment.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in family (spouse, adult interdependent partner, common-law partner, children (and partner/spouse), current or former foster-children, current or former wards, parents, stepparents, current or former guardians (and partner/spouse), current or former foster parents, siblings, half-siblings, stepsiblings (and partner/spouse), grandchildren, stepgrandchildren (and partner/spouse), grandparents, stepgrandparents, aunts, uncles, stepaunts, stepuncles (and partner/spouse), nieces, nephews (and partner/spouse), person employee isn’t related to but considers to be close relative. Family members of employee’s spouse, common-law or adult interdependent partner: children (and partner/spouse), current or former wards, parents, stepparents, foster-parents, sibling, half-siblings, stepsibling, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews).

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours at double time.

Probationary period: 90 days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 years for disciplinary actions.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls on exchange basis (after 30 days of employment) or $100 cash payments (previously $85 cash payments) on June 1, Oct. 1, Feb. 1. Employer will provide gloves on exchange basis and acceptable hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hats, respiratory protection. Winter coats will be provided to employees who work outside.

Foreman: $46.34 rising 2 steps to $47.27

Charge-hand or asst. foreman: $44.95 rising 2 steps to $45.85

Boilermaker layout/vessel fitter: $43.54 rising 2 steps to $44.42

B welder level 2: $43.54 rising 2 steps to $44.42

B welder level 1: $41.46 rising 2 steps to $42.30

Journeyman boilermaker/welder/fully trained burning-table operator: $37 rising 2 steps to $37.75

Apprentice boilermaker or welder

Third-year (90%): $33.30 rising 2 steps to $33.97

Second-year (75%): $27.75 rising 2 steps to $28.30

First-year (60%): $22.20 rising 2 steps to $22.65

C ticketed welder (journeyman or other) 38.02 rising 2 steps to $38.79

Editor’s notes: Educational training fund: Employer will contribute $0.10 per regular hour worked (will continue until fund reaches $50,000 when contribution will be $0.05 per hour) to Edmonton Boilermakers’ Shop Educational Training Trust Fund. Personal effects: Employer is responsible for destruction by fire on employer’s premises of personal effects owned by employee, maximum $250. Hearing aids: $1,500 per lifetime.
