Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2018, to April 30, 2021 Ratified on May 14, 2018. Signed on May 30, 2018.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2018: 1.5%

Effective May 1, 2019: 1.75%

Effective May 1, 2020: 1.75%

Shift premium: $2 per hour for each hour between noon and 4 a.m. for minimum of 2 consecutive work days. $2 per hour for operating forklift when employee is requested to take forklift training (employees will be on probation for 2 weeks while taking initial training). $3 per hour when employees work outside of main yard. $3 per hour for lead-hands; $1.50 per hour for temporary lead-hands. $2 per hour for designated forklift drivers.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 11 years, 5 weeks after 21 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 or 10 hours per day, double time after 12 hours. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday. Double time for all work on Sunday.

Meal allowance: Hot meal or $40 when employees work extended hours in excess of 11 hours.

Medical benefits: After 30 working days, and employee has completed 90-day probationary period, employer will make contributions to Alberta Carpenters and Allied Workers Health and Wellness Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (parents, spouses’ parents, children, own siblings, spouses’ siblings, grandparents, spouse’s grandparents, spouse).

Seniority – recall rights: 90 days for layoffs.

Probationary period: 90 days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.

Safety shoes: $250 per year for CSA-approved safety boots, after probationary period.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide employees, on as needed basis, summer, winter coveralls and appropriate gloves.

Edmonton start rate: $19.50 rising 2 steps to $20.19

Editor’s notes: Work permits: Each student will, as condition of employment, remit work-permit fee of $30 per month. Travel expenses: Travel time, accommodations, mileage and meals will be paid for by employer. Any expenses incurred by employee will be reimbursed.
