Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2022 to Aug. 31, 2025. Signed on March 8, 2023.
Shift premium: $1 per run, $2 per day for wheel chair rates (does not include pick up and drop off of aides). $1 per run, $2 per day for special education runs. $14 per week (previously $13 per week) hydro rate. Effective Sept. 1, 2024: $15 per week. 3% on all charter hours worked between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. $0.60 per hour day differential for employee whose shift starts between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Paid holidays: 11 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Easter Monday is given in lieu of Remembrance Day).
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 8% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 9% after 10 years, 4 weeks or 10% after 15 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half after 40 hours per week.
Meal allowance: $14 after 5 hours on charters; $28 after 8 hours on charters (for U.S. charters, maximum rate will be converted to U.S. dollars).
AD&D: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of $30,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of $30,000.
Pension: Each month, employer will match employee’s contribution, maximum $50, into self directed RRSP of employee’s choice.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, (including common law), child, mother, father, sister, brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, stepparent, step parent of current spouse, stepbrother, stepsister, stepchild, grandparents, grandchildren, any relative who resides with employee).
Seniority – recall rights: 18 consecutive months after layoff; 24 months if absent from work due to illness or disability.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months if employee is suspended for minor misdemeanor.
Safety shoes: Employer will pay 100% of cost of safety shoes, 1 pair per employee per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Coveralls and employee’s choice of parka or snowmobile suit to be supplied by employer from October to May. Pants and shirts to be supplied from May to October. 1 parka or snowmobile-type suit will be supplied and repaired 1 time over length of contract. Employer will supply and clean either 1 pair of coveralls or 1 shirt and pants per day. Rubber boots and gloves will be supplied by employer for washing school buses.
Tool allowance: $550 per year for mechanic; $200 per year for each helper.
Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre from residence to destination for out-of-town work.

Editor’s notes: U.S. charters: Employer will pay cost of passports (5-year maximum passport) for each U.S. driver, if mandated by government. Cancelled runs: When driver reports to scheduled charter pick up and client cancels, driver will be given $25 reporting pay. Telephone calls: If it becomes necessary for driver to call office while on charters, highway runs, driver will be reimbursed for amount paid. Recruiting bonus: $200 to recruiter, payable after probationary period. Additional $100 will be paid to recruiter and $100 to person recruited after 1 year of employment. Medical exam: Employer will pay maximum $130 for each MTO medical exam. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $425 per year to Unifor education fund.
